Small traffic circle

The same traffic circle as in the previous image, seen from the opposite direction. Note how the bicyclist can ride in nearly a straight line. The posts on the corner prevent motorists from cutting corners by going up over the curb. Fire engines can get through by mounting the curb at the center island. As I remember, in the early 1980s, this island was only a hump like a pitcher's mound in a baseball park, without curbs.
